HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It was a packed year for Designed In Devon, with numerous socials and get togethers right across the county helping bring together the design community of Devon. With our two major events, Sustainable Business by Design in Exeter and the Extended Play Games festival in Plymouth we really had a great year helping to raise the profile of design in the region.

Now a new year heralds a whole new load of plans for 2012 and, after the Steering Group meeting before Christmas in Totnes, we are confident that this year will prove to be bigger and better for everyone, so watch this space for more details!

To kick the year off for the Extended Play community, we are proud to announce that Plymouth, and our partners in Bristol, have been accepted to be host cities for the Global Game Jam at the end of January.

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event occurring annually in late January, bringing together thousands of game enthusiasts participating through many local jams around the world.

At each site across the world, participants gather to develop ideas, form small groups, develop creative innovative games and present them to their peers and the global community, all in the frantic and  limited time span of 48 hours. Participants in the Jam are of all skill levels and in various fields, with everyone from professional game developers to educators to artists and designers is welcome to participate.
