DESIGN TRAIN - SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Whatever your experience or opinion of sustainability, tackling the subject has become an established expectation in the design industry. This day of discussion and definition and will focus on how designers can balance the issues of environmental necessity and social responsibility with financial viability and personal creativity.
The aim of this day is to help you navigate the complexity of the sustainability issues of your own projects, whatever your design discipline, in order to make positive changes. Topics will include a brief history of sustainability with practical exercises in identification and mapping key issues.
Designers have a critical role to play in the creation of more sustainable world. This is your opportunity to get properly up to speed with the subject, enabling you to provide a more meaningful service for clients, society and the environment.
About the Trainer – Lynne Elvins Lynne trained in design management whilst working for the Centre for Sustainable Design. She spent five years working for SustainAbility specilaising in internet reporting and was senior advisor on Sustainable Innovation for Forum for the Future. Lynne has lectured on sustainable design and design management at the College of Creative Arts in Farnham, Bath School of Art and Design, Cranfield University and the Royal College of Art.
